The Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra is a musical surprise that is clearly becoming a
long-term cultural asset to central Georgia. Established in 2007, it set out to
provide live performances of great music “wherever the Ocmulgee River flows” –
and that’s a wide swath across the state. Its primary base is the historic
Opera House in Hawkinsville, but its outlook is unlimited.
The OSO is one of the few privately operated professional orchestras
in the world. It was founded by Dr. Charles Quinn, director of instrumental
music at Middle Georgia College in Cochran.
A new, ambitious season is being finalized. This musical surprise
continues, expanding to reach both loyal and new audiences.
